Apple has launched the first watchOS 3.2 developer beta and, as we anticipated a few days ago, one of its main novelties is the presence of a new Theater mode.
What is Theater Mode?
Theater Mode will allow us to quickly silence the Apple Watch, and prevent the screen from waking up when you raise your wrist. Users will still receive notifications through haptic vibrations, but if they want to see them, they will have to tap the screen, or press the Digital Crown.
At first, it had been rumored that Theater Mode would be a new feature for iOS devices like the iPhone, and that it could be a kind of dark mode, to use the device in low light environments. However, this function has not turned out to be what some thought, and also, at the moment, it is not available for iPhone.
To activate Theater Mode on the Apple Watch, we will only have to slide our finger up on the clock screen, to open the Control Center. Theater Mode appears as one of the buttons in the Control Center, along with options like Do Not Disturb, or Airplane Mode: it's an icon showing two theatrical skins. When we activate Theater Mode, the button appears in orange, and we will see a small mask-shaped icon at the top of the Apple Watch screen.
Below you can see how it works in a video made by the American blog 9to5Mac:
The final version of watchOS 3.2 will surely arrive throughout the month of March. In addition to the Theater Mode, another of its great novelties will be Sirikit, which will allow developers to implement Siri commands in their Apple Watch apps.
