How to know the songs you've listened to the most in a year on Apple Music

One of the things that Apple Music still needs to improve, at least from my point of view, is the creation of personalized playlists, in which Spotify is still quite ahead. Spotify launches a list with the personalized summary of listeners every year and the truth is that it is always curious to see the list.

Well, incredible as it may seem, Apple Music does not have this feature. Luckily there are maverick users who, when they want something, instead of waiting for Apple to launch it, they make it themselves. I'm talking about Federico Viticci, the creator of the blog Mac Stories (highly recommended to stop by if you don't know him) and lover of automations for iOS. Viticci, tired of waiting for Apple to launch this list at the end of the year, has decided to take action and program an incredible shortcut that does not just give you the list of your most listened to songs, it does much more.

This is what you will see if you use this shortcut:

  • The most listened to song of the year that you select (The first time you launch the shortcut you can choose the year, then you can always change it in the shortcut options).
  • Top 10 songs of the year.
  • The most listened to artist of the year.
  • Top 5 artists of the year.
  • Favorite musical genres.
  • The 9 covers say albums that you have listened to the most.
  • Statistics that include data such as the hours you have spent listening to the songs in your Top 100 or the average time that the songs you listen to last.

The shortcut will ask you if you want to create a list in Apple Music with your top 25 songs of the year, if you accept you will have it waiting for you when you open the application.

The rest of the data and statistics you will see in Safari or you can save them in Dropbox or even generate a PDF with them.

If you are an Apple Music subscriber you must try this shortcut. The first thing you need to do is download the Apple Shortcuts app, if you don't already have it. You can do it from the link below.

The application is no longer available in the App Store

Once you have the application, you just have to click the button below to go to the Viticci shortcut, save it in your collection and run it whenever you want. In less than a minute, you'll have all your 2018 music stats and a playlist created in Apple Music for you to enjoy.
