AI already surrounds us and is part of our daily lives and while we wait for the “Apple GPT”, we can try Copilot for iPhone, Microsoft's commitment to implement AI on our mobile phones that we can install regardless of the operating system we have.
So if you want to know well what it is Copilot, where it comes from and what it has to contribute to us, we invite you to join us in this post that will surely clarify some doubts.
Are Bing and Copilot for iPhone the same thing?
Although Microsoft Copilot and Bing run through the same program (in fact, they are part of the Microsoft search engine) They are two different products with different purposes..
And the fact lies in exactly what each one is designed to do: while Bing is a search engine that allows you to search for information on the web, Copilot takes it a step further adding to that engine the capabilities of AI based on ChatGPT 4.0, which on other occasions we have explained. The good thing is that both products can complement each other to provide you with a more complete user experience.
For example, you can use Bing to search for information on the web and then use Copilot to help you understand or use that information more effectively, without having to resort to AI every time you want to search the web.
Uses of Copilot for iPhone
Among the uses that we can think of that you can make of this generative AI, we would highlight the following:
- Programming assistant: Copilot is an AI-powered programming assistant that can help you write code in various programming languages.

Where does Copilot come from?
If we focus on the origin of Copilot as such, we can say that It is an evolution of the Microsoft Bing search engine, officially launched by Microsoft in 2009, as its successor to the previous search service, known as Live Search, and also MSN Search before that.
Although not as dominant as Google in the search engine market, Bing has a significant portion of users and has established partnerships with several companies and platforms such as OpenIA (of which Microsoft is a shareholder) that have led to these technical innovations being implemented in Bing.
And with the confluence of the two products, we obtain a search engine with a clean and minimalist interface that displays search results in an organized manner, which also offers a variety of search options, such as images, videos, news or maps, and that on top of that It has all the generative innovations of ChatGPT integrated.
Additionally, if you are a user of Microsoft Office packages, from March 16, 2023, Copilot becomes integrated into some of these packs, being able to automate certain office tasks such as email writing, source code review or even statistical data analysis, further raising the value of Microsoft's solution as the queen of office applications.
The future integration of Copilot into various products and services of the Redmond company, such as the Windows operating system, the Microsoft Edge web browser, the Windows virtual assistant and the internal search engine of various Microsoft devices and applications, will surely be the great evolutions that will come from the next Windows 11 update.

Copilot: our verdict
I have been using Copilot for a long time in my daily life, from writing emails to taking images. And after using it for a while, I have to say that It is a great application but it has some things to polish.
While ChatGPT is sometimes more “romantic” when it comes to providing information and rolls up more than the blinds, Copilot gets to the point, but sometimes very incisively.
Another point that I see as negative about Copilot is that because it partly performs searches on the web, by automatically finding certain parallels makes associations of terms that are not real. For example, I am associated with a Galician businessman and no matter how much I have tried to educate him about who I am in real life by showing him my LinkedIn profile, he continues to give him erroneous results.
So if you want it as a support, I think it's a great idea. But remember that as with all generative AIs, it doesn't hurt to check that you aren't getting erroneous information so that your work doesn't get ruined.
